Second Round of applications to the Sustainable Development Fund

A second round of applications to the SDF began on 30 June 2004, and a workshop to brief interested parties and potential applicants on the results of the first round of applications and the processing procedures for the second round was held on 29 June 2004. Details of the workshop are on this website under the "Workshop" session.

By the deadline of the second round of applications on 30 September 2004, the CSD received 44 applications applying for total grants exceeding $66 million. Of these applications, 9 were for educational projects, 5 were for research proposals, and 22 combined educational, promotional and training elements.

The VC met on 23 November 2004 and made initial recommendations on the applications. Having considered the recommendations made by the VC at a meeting held on 8 December 2004, the EPSC recommended that two applications be approved. As the applications were for more than $500,000 each, they required the consideration of the full CSD. In January 2005, the CSD advised that these two applications be approved. The Director of Administration subsequently approved the award of grants for the two projects, at a total budgeted cost of $3.09 million. The SDU then notified all applicants of the results of their submissions.
