HKSARG delegates to attend World Summit on Sustainable Development

A Government team comprising eight officials from relevant bureaux and departments will attend the World Summit on Sustainable Development to be held between August 26 and September 4 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

A spokesman for the Government said, "The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) is committed to the principle of sustainable development. By taking part in the Summit, Hong Kong will be able to share information, enhance our understanding of the major issues relating to sustainability and continue to develop our relationships with major stakeholders in other jurisdictions."

"We will attend the Summit as members of the delegation of the People's Republic of China (PRC), and will therefore participate in the main Summit sessions as well as related side programmes," said the spokesman.

"We look forward to exchanging views and information with other parties concerned with promoting a sustainable way of living and integrating sustainability principles into government policy," the spokesman added.

"We also look forward to maintaining close contact and dialogue on key issues with various non-governmental agencies from Hong Kong that will attend the Summit," he said.
